Work and Travel

Work and Travel Introduction (One Paragraph)
Work and Travel is a cultural exchange program that allows full-time university students to work legally in a foreign country, most commonly the United States, during their official summer break while also traveling and experiencing a new culture. The program aims to improve participants’ English language skills, enhance cultural awareness, and provide international work experience through short-term, seasonal employment. Participants typically work in service-oriented jobs such as hospitality, tourism, or retail and are encouraged to travel after completing their work period, making the program both a professional and cultural learning experience.

Work and Travel Application Requirements
➤ The applicant must be a full-time undergraduate university student enrolled in an accredited institution
➤ The applicant must actively continue their university education and return to studies after the program
➤ A minimum academic standing is required, usually demonstrated through a satisfactory GPA as determined by program sponsors
➤ The applicant must have sufficient English proficiency to communicate effectively in a workplace environment
➤ The applicant must be between the eligible age range defined by the host country regulations, most commonly for undergraduate students
➤ The applicant must secure a job offer from an approved employer or through an authorized program sponsor
➤ A valid passport and eligibility for the required exchange or cultural visa are mandatory
➤ The applicant must attend orientation sessions and comply with all program rules, work limitations, and cultural exchange objectives

Universities Participating in Work and Travel (Student-Sending Institutions)
➤ Work and Travel is not limited to specific universities and does not involve host universities abroad
➤ Students from recognized public and private universities are eligible to participate if their institution status meets program criteria
➤ The program accepts students from a wide range of academic fields, including engineering, social sciences, business, health, and arts
➤ Universities do not receive students for academic study under Work and Travel, as it is a work-based cultural exchange program
➤ Participation approval is usually managed through authorized agencies rather than foreign universities
➤ The student’s home university typically only provides proof of enrollment and academic status
➤ Work and Travel participation does not result in academic credits unless the home university independently recognizes it
